RAS AL KHAIMAH, UAE – Ras Al Khaimah is the growing emirate of UAE and the emirate is very thoughtful of its many growing talents. On Friday, the emirate opened ‘Villa Cinema', an interactive platform for potential film producers where they can explore their film-making possibilities. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of ‘Villa Cinema', the chief guest of the evening, Sheikh Salem Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman Department of Civil Aviation Ras Al Khaimah, explained that conceptualization of an interactive platform for potential film producers in a villa, helped coin the name ‘Villa Cinema' for the entity which opened in a villa, in RAK. The community's versatile senior citizens were present to welcome the opening of ‘Villa Cinema'. Also seen among the well-wishers was Waleed Al Shehhi, the recent IWC Filmmaker award-winner who made RAK proud at Dubai International Film Festival for his award-winning movie ‘Dolphins'. The new beginning in film-making in Ras Al Khaimah was appreciated by residents and expatriates of RAK and a recent expatriate to RAK, a versatile writer and author, Roger Harrison took the opportunity to present one of his latest coffee table publications now available in UAE – ‘Wings over Arabia', to H.E. Engineer Sheikh Salem Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman Department of Civil Aviation Ras Al Khaimah and member of the board of Villa Cinema. The aspirations of the audience were very positive and the audience was well-impressed with the two Emirati documentary short movies showcased at the opening ceremony. Sheikh Salem Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, has always been very instrumental in the development of youth and society of Ras Al Khaimah. Sheikh Salem has been seen in several occasions actively promoting positive impressions of the growing emirate and on this occasion with smiles throughout the flow of the event, Sheikh Salem welcomed this move of Ras Al Khaimah society in developing local talent in film making. An impressive number of university graduates from RAK in media discipline were present to acknowledge and welcome the initiative. Ras Al Khaimah, one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates has seen an impressive growth since 2012, as a destination geared towards industrial growth and leisure tourism. – SG
