JEDDAH — A con man has been arrested for scamming many people out of hundreds of thousands of riyals, said Jeddah Police spokesman First Lt. Nawaf Al-Bouq. The man, who turned out to be an undocumented Yemeni worker, was able to con his victims out of SR897,000 in total. Police officers caught him red-handed while he was wearing Saudi clothes and trying to deceive an old man into giving him money. During investigations, he confessed to pulling 79 ATM card scams in various neighborhoods, including Al-Mahjar, Al-Jami'ah, Musharafah, Al-Sharafiya, Al-Thaghr and Al-Bawadi. He targeted old men by pretending to help them withdraw money and then replace their cards with different ones he had in his pocket.
