DAMMAM — A Saudi girl sustained injuries after her cell phone, which she bought five months ago, exploded while it was being charged. The girl's family said it would sue the cell phone manufacturer for compensation. The victim's brother said the girl plugged her phone into the charger and after a few minutes, smoke was coming out of the device. When she tried to remove the phone from the charger, it exploded, burning her right hand, the brother said, adding that there was nothing wrong with the charger or the phone battery. He claimed the malfunction was a result of a manufacturing defect. A local court has asked the family to submit a medical report.
