ABHA — Asir Municipality has closed down 13 commercial stores along the Jazan road. Head of the municipality's monitoring department Ali Amhaj said the municipal inspectors, accompanied by police, conducted a campaign that resulted in the closure of a number of commercial stores. He added that three restaurants, two supermarkets, two tire shops, a water plant and six shops selling tent gear were closed down for violating hygiene regulations and other municipality requirements. In addition, a number of stalls were removed, as they did not have the required licenses or failed to renew expired licenses. Ibrahim Al-Falqi, general manager of the licenses and monitoring department, said the municipality has intensified its inspection campaigns as the international road is witnessing an influx of travelers to Jazan, escaping the cold weather in Asir. He added that these campaigns will continue to ensure the quality of products on sale.
