Prince Mishal Bin Majed Bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Jeddah, assisted by Engineer Khalid Bin Omar Al Kaf, MD and Chief Executive Officer of Mobily, cuts the ceremonial ribbon during the opening of Mobily data and information security center at Al Faiha District in Jeddah on Sunday. Saleh Fareed Saudi Gazette JEDDAH – Mobily officially inaugurated its latest data and information security center in Jeddah, as part of the company's expansion plans in establishing of a number of data centers across the Kingdom. Prince Mishal Bin Majed Bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Jeddah, opened the latest Mobily data center at Al Faiha District in Jeddah with the attendance of a large number of Saudi and international businessmen, IT experts, and dignitaries, among others. The Governor of Jeddah was received by Engineer Khalid Bin Omar Al Kaf, MD and Chief Executive Officer of Mobily, in addition to a number of executives. He later toured the seven floors data center, with a total area of 5,300 m2. In his welcoming speech, Al Kaf confirmed that the investment of the company's financial and human resources in building world-class data centers scattered across the Kingdom reflects Mobily's devotion to provide the best and latest services, and ensures the continuity of work of these centers during preventative maintenance and emergencies. He pointed out that the center holds a third-class rating in the design and construction by the “Uptime Institute”, one of the highest institution specialized in the evaluation of data centers in the world. He said “we are striving hard in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to be the hub of international traffic in gathering data. We are not working alone in this field. But Mobily is designed to support IBM's existing alliance with the operator and provide businesses in the country with managed and cloud security services.” Al Kaf extended his gratitude and appreciation for the Governor's support to all development projects serving the business sector in Jeddah's Province. Al Kaf added during the press briefing that all Mobily data centers enjoy unprecedented standards of safety, reliability and business continuity as required by the governmental, industrial and financial infrastructures. Mobily already launched last July the first data center in Riyadh that obtained the fourth degree in Asia and Africa. Al Kaf announced too that Mobily was planning to construct a jungle of data centers across the Kingdom to accommodate the increasing demand from the business sector, as there was a desire to host all data base of the governmental and private sectors inside the Kingdom, a matter that Mobily is implementing actively. Mobily is running currently 38 data centers spread all over the Kingdom, and working on other data centers through an ambitious plan to construct 56 data centers on an area covers 65,000 square meters with a total output of 152,104 KW. Jeddah data center successfully completed all the tests and necessary requirements for launching such an advanced center under direct supervision of experts by the American institute. These tests were done to ensure the implementation and application of technical and engineering standards, and that all electrical, mechanical, and support systems for the alarm, emergency generators, A/C and ventilation systems, and firefighting systems were done per the measures and standards of the Institute. Mobily is considered as the first telecom company in the Middle East, Asia and Africa that owns the largest number of data centers that were approved by Uptime. This ensures that Mobily complied with the latest international criteria that achieve top competency and match the latest technologies in telecommunication field.
