The article "Ban beggars from mosques, imams told" (Dec. 2) reports that the authorities have instructed imams to prevent beggars from entering mosques and have been told to educate the public about the importance of not giving money to beggars so as not to encourage the practice. Personally, I feel that this ruling is not right. Every Muslim should be allowed to enter a mosque. It is wrong to discriminate against beggars who for all we know might genuinely need support for whatever reason. There are many unfortunate people who suffer from mental health issues who end up begging to survive. Compassion is seriously lacking in the world today. Faisal, Online response
