JEDDAH — Police detained a family for allegedly selling drugs. Officers had received information that a large shipment of pills was being smuggled into the country. Police set up a plan to track the drugs and was able to identify the location where they were being distributed. Officers monitored an apartment and observed a man, woman and child exiting the apartment. Police confronted the trio and found the woman was carrying drugs and over SR250,000 in cash in her handbag. They also monitored two suspects who met with another person and drove to a house, with one of them carrying a laptop bag. They exited the house shortly after and met with a fourth person. When the fourth person was handed the laptop bag, police confronted them all and was able to arrest them after they put up a fight. Police searched the laptop bag and found drugs inside it. Officers also searched the house and apartment and found large amounts of pills, money and documents of financial transactions. All suspects were referred to the concerned bodies for investigation, after which they will be referred to trial.
