GEOCLIMA S.R.L., the strategic business unit of Zamil Air Conditioners and a leading Italian manufacturer of air conditioning systems, has announced that its innovative Turbomiser chiller was selected as the RAC Cooling Awards 2013 “Air Conditioning Product/Innovation of the Year” at the RAC Cooling Industry Awards held recently in London. This year's Cooling Industry Awards program was attended by some 700 professionals in the refrigeration and cooling sector, who gathered to honor the top people, products and projects in the sector as they accepted the industry's most coveted awards. Turbomiser was rewarded due to the innovative development concept of saving energy by storing the coolest, or the heat, for future use. According to the judges, the Turbomiser technology is innovative not just in terms of cooling and air conditioning but also for the potential that the concept brings to the entire industry. The high-efficiency Turbomiser from Geoclima is capable of reducing energy costs by up to 50 percent when compared with traditional units that use screw or reciprocating compressors. The Turbomiser chiller is based on a combination of technologies designed to reduce energy consumption, minimize or avoid leaks, reduce the need for refrigerant charge, and ensure reliable operation with minimal noise. It has won several awards, including CIBSE, the most prestigious award for technology with low environmental impact. Paolo Ferraris, president of Geoclima, said “this is an exciting time to be involved in the cooling industry. The rapid advancement of technological development offers us unlimited opportunities for innovation in terms of product efficiency and management of increasing worldwide concerns about environmental impact. We are as proud to present the industry with this versatile and efficient technology as we are to accept recognition for our accomplishments, and look forward to meeting the challenges of the future.” Since 1994, Geoclima has been engaged in the design and manufacture of unrivaled HVAC products, notably Turbocor, its low-noise, energy efficient centrifugal compressor, and is known worldwide for its introduction of the first oil-free compressor for use in the commercial HVAC industry. The company manufactures a complete line of water-cooling units (chillers) and central air-conditioning AHU systems under its Geoclima and Climatech brands, and maintains a research-oriented design program focused on utilizing innovative components and technologies to increase energy efficiency. — SG
