JEDDAH — The International Indian School Jeddah (IISJ) celebrated National Education Day recently to tribute Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. School principal Syed Masood Ahmad was the chief guest. Vice principal Najeeb Qais, COE Abdul Haq, and Headmaster of grades nine - 12 Noufal also attended the program and witnessed a well-planned program of Urdu and English language literary recital. Maulana Azad had a multi-faceted personality. Students delivered outstanding speeches on his various roles. Sarvanan and Bashar Khalid shed light on Azad's biography and the leader as a journalist respectively. Rehan Rafi and Faris Hasan spoke about Azad's role in fighting for freedom and Hashir on "Maulana Azad as a Social Worker." His role as an educationist was highlighted by Faizul Hasan. Mirza Abdullah Baig and Adel Muhammad Jilani Basha spoke about his Azad's prowess in Urdu and English respectively. A power point presentation by Ammar and Sharib showed the freedom fighter's achievements. Ahmad distributed prizes to the winners of the English and Urdu essay writing contest, held earlier, which were coordinated by Fazal R. Khan, chemistry teacher and Tajuddin. The first three winners of the junior English Essay Writing Competition were Mohammed Hashir, Ahmed Maniyar and Syed Nouman H. In the senior's category, Syed Muhammad Hamza, Masroor Ahmad, and Shaikh Rehan were the first three position holders. In the junior Urdu Essay Writing Competition, the winners were Syed Saber Usman, Mohammed Hashir, and Syed Noumanullah (IX). Mirza Abdullah Baig, Khalid AbdurRauf, and Hassan M. Shahid were the first three position in the senior's category. Earlier, the program commenced with the recitation of a few verses from the Qur'an by Musab Ansari followed by its translation by Anas Peerzada. The welcome speech was delivered by Urdu teacher Tajuddin. Naat was recited by Faizan Ali Khan and Bilal Qadri. The vote of thanks was delivered by Hurairah Chorghay, the school's head boy.
