Saleh Fareed Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — Lateefa Alwaalan from Riyadh was announced as the winner of the Saudi Creative Business Cup contest and will represent Saudi Arabia at the international contest based in Copenhagen, Denmark this month. With her winning brand “Yatooq”, an electronic Arabic coffee maker that has ready-made Arabic coffee blends sold in supermarkets, Alwaalan said she was proud to represent Saudi Arabia in the contest and thanked organizers for hosting and running the contests. Saudi Creative Business Cup was launched in September 2013 and is hosted by Qotuf. Second place went to Salem Suliman Masrahi from Makkah for creating a digital car system that was developed to control a vehicle remotely. Third place went to Muhannad Al-Nabulsi for his Dreamztalk application that can be installed on any computer or smart phone, allowing parents to create stories remotely and send them to their children. Tuba Terekli, co-founder and CEO of Qotuf, said the company wants to nurture creative industries as they have potential to impact the value of current products and services, create more jobs and affect traditional industries' growth and innovation. The criteria of choosing the winners was based on the creativity of the product or the service, originality of the idea, the possibility of marketing the product in large scales and the scalability of the business model. The Saudi Creative Business Cup is a competition that aims to reach entrepreneurs in Saudi Arabia from creative industries and encourage creativity and strengthen business competencies of entrepreneurs.
