The crackdown against violating expatriates started forcefully after the end of the grace period. It is certain that the work of those involved in these campaigns will not be easy, regardless of the readiness of all the concerned government departments to carry out these campaigns, according to plans which took time to prepare. Citizens will be happy if the campaign succeeds in eliminating the undocumented day laborers who used to crowd our streets offering cheap services. This will also give the inspection committees more self-confidence and will ensure them of the cooperation of citizens. These day laborers pose a real threat to our national security because they have no sponsors. These workers, who are of different nationalities, came to the Kingdom with work visas from fake commercial establishments. Some of them used to work for Saudi individuals as guards, drivers, housemaids and cooks. Citizens have contributed to the rise in the number of day laborers for a variety of reasons. These workers are cheap and can easily be found. Many of us have employed wielders or electricians whom we found near hardware stores. Many of us have had our cars cleaned near malls or supermarkets by expatriates who were not under our sponsorship. We often find day laborers along the streets offering their construction, maintenance or painting services at low prices. In fact these workers are not skilled and have no training in the jobs they offer to do. They are jacks of all trades but masters of none. So we will consider the crackdown campaign a success if it enables us to get rid of these undocumented day laborers.
