Lack of a strong will
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 23 - 04 - 2013

Mohammed Bin Sulaiman Al-Ihaidib
Okaz

There are many “scandalous” situations that have been concealed but were uncovered by the recent combined crackdown campaign against violating foreigners. There is, however, one thing or a scandal that nobody gave attention to.
It is like the title, “something you have not seen”, which we usually use in the publicity for our drama works. I will reveal it to you at the end of this article.
The scandalous situations, which are already known to us and which were confirmed by the campaign, was the huge number of foreigners working for Saudis and organizations who are not their original sponsors.
The campaign also revealed that there were large numbers of cover-up businesses and a large number of female teachers who were working illegally. The foreign women teachers either stopped coming to their schools during the campaign or hid themselves in the roofs. A young girl student asked her mother: “Mom why were our teachers scared and why did they climb to the roof?”
The campaign also revealed that many female nurses were not under the sponsorship of their hospitals and many pharmacists were not being sponsored by their pharmacies. It discovered that the job titles in the iqamas of some doctors and pharmacists were plumbers and electricians.
Our society, which claims to be perfect and ideal, is replete with violating Saudis. You may find a famous writer, a judge, a minister, a police officer and another top official with a housemaid or a driver not under his sponsorship. These big shots may also own establishments in which violating foreigners are employed.
The biggest scandal or the “thing you have not seen”, which was uncovered by the campaign and which I promised to reveal to you at the end of the article, is that if we want to do something we will do it regardless of the human resources or other potentials. The campaign told us that only thing we lack is the strong will.
