MANILA — K-pop darling Sandara Park once again took to social media to share her Filipino connection on Friday, this time with a photo of her with "Maria Mercedes" star Jessy Mendiola in Seoul, South Korea. Park, in a post on the microblogging site Twitter seen by her 1.1 million followers, shared a photo of her posing with Mendiola. Its caption read: "With Jessy Mendiola in Seoul! Abangan niyo ako sa [‘Matanglawin'] (Watch for it in ‘Matanglawin'!)" "Matanglawin" is an educational show which airs Sundays on ABS-CBN. Mendiola flew to South Korea on Tuesday night to attend her ceremonial appointment as the country's honorary ambassador for tourism. The position was conferred on her by the Korean Tourism Organization. In another post on Twitter, Park also expressed excitement about being reunited with Star Magic road manager Peachy Bautista, who accompanied Mendiola on her five-day trip. The 28-year-old Park rose to fame in Manila in 2004, when she finished runner-up on the ABS-CBN talent search "Star Circle Quest." After a string of film and TV projects, Park decided to leave for Korea to pursue a showbiz career there. In 2009, she took on the name "Dara" as a member of the K-pop girl group 2NE1. Park's photo with Mendiola isn't the first time she has shared her Filipino showbiz roots. Early this month, she attended President Benigno Aquino III's state dinner in South Korea. Aside from regularly conversing with former ABS-CBN co-stars on Twitter, Park has met with a number of them, including "It's Showtime" hosts Ryan Bang and Vhong Navarro, in Korea. — ABS-CBN News
