MANILA — Jessy Mendiola was in Seoul, South Korea, recently to participate in Korean Broadcasting System's World Date, an initiative to promote Korean culture. The UAE-born actress, who has a Filipino mother and a British-Lebanese father, represented the Philippines and got to meet the K-Pop band SHINee. Mendiola also met various delegates from other countries. Among their activities were a mini fashion show, barbecue dinner, outdoor activities, and a visit to the Goguryeo Blacksmith Vilage where they were photographed wearing “handbook” (traditional Korean clothing). Of course, Mendiola danced the “Gangnam style” as she visited the district after which the world-famous dance ditty is named. TV host Bianca Gonzalez represented the country in the first “World Date” in 2010. — SG
