JEDDAH — The east Jeddah neighborhood of Al-Harazat is to receive all basic municipality services soon. Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs Prince Mansour Bin Miteb has instructed Jeddah Mayor Hani Aburas to provide the area with the necessary services such as asphalting and street lighting. The neighborhood's 50,000 residents had previously complained to the minister about the streets, which they claimed had been deteriorating for years. Meanwhile, Aburas has announced that the old Makkah Road would be re-asphalted from the Kilo 2 area until Bahra. A number of residents have complained about the bad condition of the road and said the many bumps and holes have damaged their cars and cause traffic jams. This road was damaged during floods two years ago but they said it has not been attended to since. Local resident Salem Al-Shehri said the Old Makkah Road is a vital and main road that connects Jeddah to Bahra. It is frequented by thousands everyday and serves many neighborhoods along the way, he said.
