The mayoralty has endorsed a plan to repair flood-damaged streets in a number of districts by the beginning of March, including those in Umm Al-Khair, Al-Musa'ed and Al-Muntazahat Districts, east of Jeddah. This was announced by Deputy Mayor for Construction and Projects Eng. Ibrahim Kutubkhana. He said work started last week to repair a section of Old Makkah Road from Kilo 4 to Kilo 14. This work is also expected to be completed by March. He said that repair work has already been carried out on the streets at Umm Al-Khair by Umm Assalam District Municipality. Teams have also finished repairing potholes at the service street east of King Abdul Aziz University and at Bakhashab Street by the Jamia'a District Municipality. He said 4,300 cubic meters of waste has been removed from the streets of Quwaizah District. Over 3,200 cubic meters of sand and leveling material to patch potholes were used there. Kutubkhana said cleaning teams at Wadi Quwz Street – which intersects with Jack Street – have been conducted prior to repair work. Al-Harazat Road, which stretches to Old Makkah Road, has been repaired with the removal of 6,750 cubic meters of waste and the use of 9,500 cubic meters of soil and filling material. The mayoralty had laid down patches of asphalt at the affected parts of Prince Miteb, King Abdul Aziz and Prince Majed streets, using 291 square meters of five centimeter thick asphalt. It had also repaired Brayman Bridge's eastern road by removing 2,640 square meters of damaged asphalt, and carrying out work to level the area.
