UNIONDALE, NY — Benoit Pouliot's goal with 6:14 left in the third period capped an entertaining, back-and-forth game and lifted the New York Rangers to a contentious 3-2 win over the New York Islanders. Chris Kreider and Ryan McDonagh scored power-play goals for the Rangers (4-7-0) who trailed 2-1 following second-period goals from the Islanders' Cal Clutterbuck and Peter Regin. The Islanders (4-5-3) played their first game since the blockbuster trade Sunday for left wing Thomas Vanek, who was held to one shot in the loss. The game featured flaring tempers as there were at least three skirmishes as well as a fight between the Islanders' Matt Martin and the Rangers' Derek Dorsett in the second, and pushing and shoving from both teams as time expired. Blues 3, Jets 2: Alexander Steen scored with 54.4 seconds left, giving him his NHL-best 11th goal and giving the St. Louis Blues a victory over the Winnipeg Jets. With the goal, Steen broke a tie with the other Alexander — Ovechkin. Ducks 3, Flyers 2: Kyle Palmieri scored the go-ahead goal with 4:09 left in the game after getting the tying goal earlier in the period, and the Anaheim Ducks rallied to beat the Philadelphia Flyers. Devils 2, Lightning 1: Jaromir Jagr and Adam Henrique scored second-period goals as the New Jersey Devils edged the Tampa Bay Lightning. Goaltender Martin Brodeur made 16 saves to earn the victory while Lightning netminder Ben Bishop stopped 20-of-22 shots but was saddled with his second loss of the season. Steven Stamkos scored for the Lightning (8-4-0), who had their three-game win streak snapped. Canadiens 2, Stars 1: Michael Bournival and Rene Bourque scored, Carey Price made 26 saves and the Montreal Canadiens defeated the Dallas Stars.
