In the article "Countdown to amnesty" (Oct. 7), Mahmoud Ahmad reviews the difficulty that expatriates have had in documenting themselves during the current amnesty period. Standing in the scorching heat all day and at the end of the day returning home empty-handed is the most tortuous thing one can imagine. It is true that the clock is ticking. So the million dollar question is: What will happen to those unfortunate workers who have attempted to correct their status but have failed to do so for reasons beyond their control?
