Cultural Welfare Attaches Mueenudin Memon and Syed Hammad Abid encourage Pakistanis expatriates to correct their status before the amnesty ends. Faiz Al-Najdi RIYADH — Pakistan Embassy held two job fairs for the benefit of Pakistani workers in the Eastern Province: in Jubail and in AlKhobar on September 26 and 27 respectively. The job fairs, organized to assist expatriates find job and correct their status, took place under the leadership of Pakistan Ambassador Muhammad Naeem Khan.
Khan said his desire and mission is to ensure that no Pakistani is sent back home on final exit.
"This is the reason I am hosting job fairs one after another. The embassy and the consulate has been helping Pakistanis in need of help whether it is help in seeking employment, correction of their job status or issuing out-passes and emergency passports," said Khan. The ambassador urged all undocumented Pakistanis to correct their status before the amnesty ends on November 3. "If they cannot find any sponsor then they better contact the embassy in Riyadh or the consulate in Jeddah, and we will do everything possible to help them," he said. Those who are not able to find a job or a sponsor then it is better for them to return back to Pakistan now, Khan warned. They can come back again without any difficulty but once the deadline expires, the Saudi authorities will come down very hard and the consequences will be grave. According to Khan, all those who are living in the Kingdom illegally since July 2008 should leave the country as technically they can not change the sponsor. "They can leave peacefully and can return back without any penalty." Community Welfare Attaches Mueenudin Memon and Syed Hammad Abid confirmed that the job fairs were successful in both places.
"In total more than 2,200 Pakistani workers participated and were registered for recruitment by representatives of more than 86 employing companies," said Mueen. Hammad said: "Our Ambassador has been hosting job fairs to help our Pakistani brethren. The Pakistani workers should take the words of our ambassador seriously when he says that there would not be any further extension of the amnesty after the deadline of November 3." They also requested Pakistanis to take amnesty seriously and get themselves documented and become legal. Mueen and Hammad said job fairs would also be conducted in other major cities as well.
