ROME — An exhibition entitled “Saudi Arabia Crossroad of Civilizations” was jointly opened by Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) President Prince Sultan Bin Salman and the Mayor of Rome Professor Ignazio Marino at the Vittoriano Museum here on Thursday. The exhibition is being organized by SCTA on the sidelines of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom and Italy. The event was attended by Italian Minister of Culture Massimo Bray, Italian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Khaled Bin Saud, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, among others. The exhibition aims to highlight the depth and strength of Saudi-Italian relations in diverse areas which date back to 1932. The exhibition also aims to indicate that cultural relations between the two countries are no less important than the economic relations as cultural and scientific exchange between the two countries are in good progress and prospering. The exhibition showcases 164 relics taken from different parts of the Kingdom and dating back to different ages. It is expected to play a key role in enhancing cultural relations between the two countries, as well as contributing to the broadening Italians' understanding on the Saudi role in the human civilization. Inaugurating the exhibition, Prince Sultan said: Saudi Arabia is not only a country that produces oil. We are proud of the resources Almighty Allah has given us and which is spent to upgrade the standard of living of the Kingdom's citizens and developing the country in all fields. “But we are more thankful that our country is the cradle of Islam and the country of the Two Holy Mosques. It is also a country of huge economy qualifying to become a member of the G20. It is the country of good political presence and great regional and international weight. It is the country of the meeting point of civilizations,” he said.
