I am writing with regard to the letter "Riyadh airport immigration staff are the world's most ill-mannered" (Oct. 4). In fact the situation in Jeddah airport is the same if not worse. Although there are many flights landing at the same time with many passengers coming for Umrah among whom a large proportion are elderly, only two or three immigration counters ever seem to be working. On my last trip, I flew from Dubai to Jeddah. The flight took three hours and 20 minutes, but passing through immigration took four hours. I would recommend that people not travel to Jeddah at night when most of the flights seem to arrive. I have no hope for change in the Saudi immigration system. Do you?
