JEDDAH — Doctors at the Jeddah Maternity and Children Hospital are being investigated over the death of a baby, a local daily said. The father of the baby, Mus'ab, has filed a complaint with the Health Affairs in Jeddah claiming negligence on the part of the hospital that caused the death of his 10-month-old baby. The father, according to Al-Hayat newspaper, claimed that he admitted Mus'ab to the emergency unit of the hospital as he was suffering from vomiting and diarrhea. An hour later, the baby's condition worsened, but the doctor kept the baby under observation. The father claimed that the baby later went into a coma, and did not respond to treatment. The baby was shifted to the intensive care unit, where he remained for eight days before his death. The father claims the baby's mother suffered a nervous breakdown and is currently receiving treatment. Abdulrahman Al-Sahafi, public relations manager of Jeddah Health Affairs, said an urgent committee has been set up to investigate the incident.
