LONDON — Manchester United's reward for beating bitter rival Liverpool in the League Cup is a clash against Norwich, while Arsenal will host Chelsea in the tie of the fourth round. Javier Hernandez's second half strike at Old Trafford clinched a 1-0 third round win over Liverpool Wednesday and just minutes after full-time David Moyes' men learnt they will host the Canaries in the last 16 in the week commencing October 28. Arsenal's young team held its nerve to beat West Bromwich Albion on penalties at the Hawthorns Wednesday and that set up a mouth-watering London derby against Jose Mourinho's Chelsea, which won 2-0 at Swindon Tuesday. Manchester City has been handed a trip to Newcastle, which beat Leeds 2-0 Wednesday. Birmingham ousted holder Swansea 3-1 and has been handed another home match in the last 16, this time against Stoke, which won 2-0 at Tranmere Wednesday. Tottenham takes on Hull at White Hart Lane, while managerless Sunderland, which sacked Paolo Di Canio this week, plays host to Mauricio Pochettino's Southampton. West Ham faces Championship opposition in Burnley at Turf Moor, while Martin Jol's Fulham is also on the road at second tier Leicester. Earlier on the field United ruined Luis Suarez's long-awaited return from a 10-match ban for biting. Javier Hernandez showed a poacher's instinct to volley home deftly 39 seconds into the second half, as United advanced despite fielding a largely second-string team against its fierce rival at Old Trafford. Suarez hogged the limelight on his return to club football five months after biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic in a Premier League game and he came closest to equalizing for Liverpool, curling a free kick against the crossbar. Beating Liverpool was a huge result for Moyes. “I think what was important (was) that the whole club showed we were hurt by the game Sunday, and the players have gone out and done a great job,” Moyes said. “I've said I will fix it and turn it around, and I will do.” — Agencies
