The Kingdom has made giant strides in the educational sphere. The fiscal year 1428-29 Hijra included the implementation of 2,074 educational projects for boys and girls throughout the Kingdom in addition to the 4,352 projects which are in the pipeline. The number of students at the primary, intermediate and secondary stages amounted to more than five million in the academic year 1428-29 Hijra. As regards girls education, the number of female students in the academic year 1426-27 Hijra amounted to 2,496,349. The number of the female teachers amounted to 226,281. The Ministry of Education has been giving great attention to the Holy Qur'an memorization schools. In 1426-27 Hijra, the number of the Holy Qur'an memorization schools amounted to 790 with 91,264 students and 8,483 teachers. The Holy Qur'an memorization schools for girls were 867 by the end of 1426-27 Hijra. In these scholls, there were 102,367 female students and 10,374 female teachers.
