Abid Khazandar Al-Riyadh Through my personal experience in schools and through what I hear today, the meal the student has at school nowadays is his major one for the whole day. In the past, the Ministry of Education had contracted an international company to provide high quality and nutritious food to the students at their schools. For undisclosed reasons the project stopped. Instead, cafeterias run by a variety of individuals and companies surfaced at schools. No guidelines or conditions were set on them, and these cafeterias were given the freedom to choose the type of food to be served to the students. In addition to the food, the cafeterias were also providing sugary carbonated drinks and energy drinks. For this reason, we welcome the step to be taken by the Ministry of Education to establish a government-run school catering company. The company will be under the supervision of Tatweer Education Holding Company, which is implementing Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah's Project for Development of Public Education. The food company will be providing meals to male and female students in 33,000 schools all over the Kingdom. It will follow hygienic specifications for the food it will provide to the students. It will also serve nutritious-rich foods in addition to various kinds of fresh juice. I hope this project will become a reality.
