This refers to the letter of Aqil on Saturday commenting on the article "Housemaids and citizens' rights" (Aug. 15). In his/her letter, Aqil said: "Why look to other countries? Saudize the maid's job to get rid of the problems arising from the recruitment of maids from other countries. You can even save on recruitment fees. Also a Saudi housemaid can leave anytime if mistreated or overworked." it's a smart option, a great idea and I fully agree with it. And there should be local agencies which should hire local people and provide full-time or part-time maids, cooks and drivers to city residents. It will facilitate efforts by employers looking for domestic helpers and employees looking for jobs. It can also do away with visas and other procedures that go with recruiting domestic helpers from other countries. Maria Khan, Online response
