RIYADH — Sponsors of some maids and drivers have sought the help of newspapers to get rid of their domestic help — who are being a nuisance, or are not up to their standards — and get some of their money back which they had spent on recruiting them from abroad. Local daily newspapers these days are full of funny advertisements with current sponsors highlighting their domestic helpers' good habits — “She is good with kids and pray five times a day,” or “She speaks English very well,” or “The maid is perfect in the kitchen and can cook different ethnic food” — to lure prospective sponsors. Some sponsors said that since they are traveling they no longer need a domestic helper, while others said they cannot afford to pay their salary now. — SG
