TRIPOLI — The government is to set up a Joint Security Operations Room in Misrata to help boost security. The new Misrata Joint Security Room will work under the direct supervision of the Cabinet, which is currently only dealing with matters relating to security, and Prime Minister Ali Zidan, according to Libyan news agency LANA. The new Joint Security Room will be responsible for securing Misrata and the surrounding area. It will work alongside local police, helping them to develop security plans and coordinate with the relevant authorities. The room will be chaired by the commander of the Central Military Zone and will include senior local security personnel. Benghazi and Tripoli both already have Joint Security Rooms. — Libya Herald
