Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — The Experts Commission, the legislative arm of the Council of Ministers and the Shoura (Consultative) Council, has completed a study to launch the first arbitration center affiliated to the Ministry of Justice. The step is meant to reduce the burden on the Kingdom's judiciary and decrease the time taken for litigation. Informed sources said that the Ministry of Justice has moved to offer its full support to the center, whose role is expected to be activated soon. The center is expected to reduce the financial cost of litigation and decrease a lot of time. It will also reduce the time for litigation and there will be several choices before litigators, Al-Watan Arabic daily reported Sunday. While some courts are suffering from the lack of support services for judges, the sources disclosed that when the center starts functioning, a large number of cases will be resolved without the involvement of judges. The sources added that the Ministry of Justice used to and continues to grant licenses for arbitration in a number of fields, like medicine, accountancy and Shariah and financial specializations. It is not conditional that the applicant should be a lawyer, sources said. It is noteworthy that the Arbitration Administration in the Ministry of Justice will begin practicing the specializations mentioned in the judicial regulation, apart from providing the courts with information on arbitrators and the mechanism through which it is possible to benefit from arbitrators.
