Saudi Gazette report JEDDAH – The Control and Investigation Board (CIB) has instructed its staff in 25 branch offices all over the Kingdom to ensure government employees return to work on Tuesday following the end of the Eid holidays, a Arabic language daily reported on Monday quoting a senior CIB official. The official said CIB staff will closely monitor all ministries and government departments for the first three days to make sure that the employees have returned to their offices on time after their Eid break, which started on Aug. 2. According to the newspaper, there are 959,833 government employees consisting of 281,080 public officers, 447,024 teachers, 35,253 university staff members, 1,555 judges, among others. According to the official, the government departments expect more than 50,000 employees not to show up on time after the Eid vacation. Last year, more than 70,000 of them failed to report for duty on time. The Ministry of Civil Service has asked all ministries and government departments to deduct two-days' salary from every employee who does not report to work on time without an acceptable excuse.
