TRIPOLI — A joint maritime exercise between Libyan and French naval forces along the Libyan coast ended Friday. The six-day maneuvers was codenamed Shaheen 13. Three Libyan vessels, Shafak, Essdada and Merseet participated in the exercise along with the French frigate, Commandant Bouan. Ayoub Omar Qasim, the official spokesperson for the Libyan Navy Commander in Chief, told LANA that the exercise came within the framework of the bilateral coordination and cooperation agreements between Libya and France. The exercise, he said, was aimed at raising the efficiency level of the Libyan navy. — Libya Herald
