Gunmen fire at patrol unit in Qatif

DAMMAM – A patrol unit came under heavy gunfire from unidentified sources at Al-Toubi town in Qatif governorate around midnight Friday, police said on Saturday.
The police were forced to return fire and a 19-year-old youth in his car was hit by a stray bullet during the brief exchange.
An Eastern Province police spokesman said in a statement carried on state media he was shot when they exchanged fire with unknown gunmen, adding he was found in his car at dawn on Saturday but was dead before reaching hospital.
Investigations are under way. – SG/SPA
