JEDDAH — The Ministry of Justice has announced that it will shortly launch an agency specializing in family affairs to be affiliated with the Social Services Department. The new agency will be tasked with the supervision of all family guidance departments and cases involving women in the country's courts, Al-Eqtisadiah daily reported Thursday. Fahd Al-Bakran, spokesman for the Ministry of Justice, said the administrative system for the Family Agency had been referred to the Administrative Reform Committee in the ministry. Speaking on the sidelines of the “Program for Media Coverage of the Judiciary and Cases” that concluded its deliberations on Wednesday, Al-Bakran said the Family Agency will be like the Arbitration and Reconciliation Agency that is already functioning on the ground but has not yet been incorporated into the administrative system. A specialist judge will be in charge of the agency temporarily until it is approved. He said the Family Agency would provide consultative services within the Social Services Administration in the Ministry of Justice.
