Pakistanis observed the 60th anniversary of the death of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah first Governor General of Pakistan on September 11 here. In a press release President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari said Quaid-i-Azam “united the discordant elements among the Muslims of the subcontinent, welded them into a nation in a remarkably short time and secured for them a separate and independent homeland.” He “was a paragon of uprightness, honesty, integrity and courage of conviction. His conduct was above reproach, his incorruptibility unquestioned and his scrupulous honor universally acknowledged,” the press release read.
