BEIJING — Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has been named chief coach of Chinese Super League side Guangzhou R&F, the club said Tuesday. Eriksson, who stepped down as technical director of United Arab Emirates side Al-Nasr Sunday, joins Guangzhou on an 18-month deal, a club official said, without giving details of the Swede's salary. The appointment will see Eriksson face former Italy manager Marcello Lippi in derby games in the football-mad southern Chinese city, as the World Cup winner is boss of current champions Guangzhou Evergrande. Reports in Britain suggest the well-traveled coach will be paid £2m ($3m) a year by Guangzhou R&F. — Reuters
