JEDDAH – Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the recent statement by an Iranian minister against Bahrain, saying that it is a flagrant interference in the internal affairs of Bahrain and it is totally unacceptable. “The statement by the Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hussain Amir Abdullahyan on May 18 against Bahrain, one of the GCC states, is deemed an irresponsible behavior in the regional and international relations and it is in contravention with the principles of the United Nations, Organization of Islamic Cooperation and international laws that all respect the sovereignty and independence of countries,” the Ministry of Foreign said in a statement. The Ministry rejected Iran's efforts in continuing such dangerous threats as well as its political, religious and media incitement, saying “These reflect Iran's greed for expansion against a sovereign Arab country. This would undermine the security and stability of the Gulf Arab region, besides further worsening the situation therein,” the statement, carried by Saudi Press Agency, added.
