Sultan Al-Sughair Saudi Gazette AL-KHOBAR — The National Water Company (NWC) is planning to form joint ventures with private sector partners to deliver various water and sewage services in the Kingdom's major cities. Yahya Al-Yousef, senior manager for asset services, the NWC, said the company was planning to work with several private partners to deliver services across the Kingdom. He said: “The proposed joint venture will provide national operation and maintenance (O&M), treated sewage effluent (TSE) services, TSE district cooling and O&M services for cities. “The joint venture will also work together on local TSE pilot schemes. “We are planning to form partnerships with the private sector by 2015. “The NWC has previously signed public-private partnership (PPP) contracts with water firms to provide services in Riyadh, Jeddah, Makkah and Taif. “Currently we are negotiating contracts for the cities of Madinah, Dammam and Al-Khobar, with the PPP projects scheduled to be implemented by the end of 2014.” The NWC ultimately plans to provide water and wastewater services in all 15 of the Kingdom's major cities in this manner.
