PARIS — Style Vendome gave emotional trainer Nicolas Clement his first classic victory at Longchamp Sunday winning the French 2000 Guineas for his fifth successive victory. Clement celebrated his first classic at the same venue where at 27 he became the youngest trainer to train the winner of Europe's most prestigious race the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in 1990 with Saumarez. Jockey Thierry Thulliez brought the favorite with a perfectly-timed run down the middle to win by a neck over the rank outsider Dastarhon, trained by Chantilly-based Swede Pia Brandt, with the fast-finishing Andre Fabre-trained Intello third and Force Ten Gale, trained by Aidan O'Brien, fourth. — AP
