JEDDAH — Under the patronage of Princess Mashael Bint Abdul Aziz Al Saud, and in the presence of Princess Bunaia Bint Fahad Bin Abdullah, who was representing Princess Mashael, Al Faisalya Women Welfare Society in Sleysla Heritage Center organized “Hawya 2-Timeless Patterns” ceremony Saturday at Park Hayat Hotel. The main of the ceremony, which is being held for the second consecutive year, and the society is to preserve the Saudi heritage and encourage the girls' creative production, and support the orphans. Work on “Hawya 2” started after the first ceremony concluded last year. It was themed around gold, the precious metal worn by women over the years all over the world. The ceremony began with the recitation of a few verses from the Qur'an followed by the Saudi national anthem presented by young school pupils. A documentary on the society's activities was also featured. Sleysla products such as women's thobes, handmade scarfs, bags and others were displayed at the ceremony. Around 40 traditional thobes, with a contemporary twist, from different regions of the country were also shown. Philanthropy auction was held at the end of the ceremony; a beautiful traditional dress with styles from Asir and Taif was sold for SR200,000 for the benefit of orphans in Princess Hussah Bint Khaled Centre. Participants and volunteers of the ceremony expressed their pleasure and were honored to be part of “Hawya 2” ceremony. They also said that they would contribute in the society's other activities. Princess Fahda Bint Saud, president of Al Faisalya Society, and Princess Naifa Bint Saud, president of public relations center in Al Faisalya, honored the sponsors of the ceremony and presented them with souvenirs from Sleysla. From planning to decoration, everything was done by Saudi women. Sleysla Center is one of the main centers of Faisalya Society in Jeddah; it was established to create awareness on the importance of training Saudi women to improve their financial situation.
