Nadia Al-Fawaz Saudi Gazette ABHA — A citizen has demanded that the National Society for Human Rights (NSHR) step in and do something about the case of a nine-month-old baby who has been abandoned by his family and left inside Uhud Rufaida Hospital for months. Abdullah Ibrahim said he inquired about the baby's case and discovered that he had not been issued a birth certificate and no one had visited or asked about him for several months. He added that nurses at the hospital buy diapers for the baby and fulfill his other needs. “Asir Health Affairs should follow up with the baby's case as he was referred from Asir Hospital to this hospital after undergoing a hydrocephalus operation. The baby might need to be transferred to an advanced hospital for further treatment,” said the concerned citizen. Asir Health Affairs spokesman Saeed Al-Nuqair said the baby was born in Abha General Hospital with congenital defects. He noted that two babies from the same family had died of the same condition a few years ago. “The baby's condition has been deteriorating for a month due to the abnormally large size of his head," Al-Nuqair said.
