Munawarunnisa Nazneen Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — Awareness workshops and edutainment programs for children were the highlight of celebrations marking the International Day of the Red Crescent in Jeddah on Wednesday and Thursday. The Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the Saudi Red Crescent Authority organized the event at Red Sea Mall. In addition to guidance and awareness workshops and entertainment for children, the programs included and prizes for participants and Red Sea Mall visitors. Attendees were welcomed with roses, and kids and families enthusiastically participated in various quizzes and games. Sagr Al-Sulamani, the head of the volunteering team, highlighted the importance of the event in spreading awareness about the Red Crescent's activities. Abdullah Al-Humrani, head of the nutrition volunteering team, also said the event created awareness among people on emergency medicine, clinical nutrition, diabetes and health care. A procession of rapid intervention vehicles, ambulances and mobile operating rooms was held while an air ambulance flew over the mall. The march, which started from the Maritime Science College roundabout in north Jeddah to the Red Sea Mall, was organized in coordination with the traffic police, road security units, police, Civil Defense and the Health Affairs. The sponsors of the event were Red Sea Mall, MBC FM, Salam Medical Services, Co. Ltd, International Renal Care Center, Dr. Erfan & Bagedo General Hospital, International Diabetes Care Center, Saudi German Hospital, Sela Medical, Maghrabi and Mall of Arabia.
