Saudi Arabia reaffirms Syria must be free from any aggression on its sovereignty

RIYADH — The Saudi Council of Ministers reaffirmed that Syria must be free from terrorism and any aggression on its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman chaired the Cabinet session in Riyadh on Tuesday.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency following the session, Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary highlighted the Cabinet's discussion of current regional and international developments. The Council commended the broad international participation in the recent ministerial meetings on Syria hosted by the Kingdom, which aim to support the Syrian people through humanitarian and economic assistance and to help them rebuild Syria as a unified, independent, and secure nation for all its citizens.
At the outset of the session, the Cabinet was briefed on the message that King Salman had received from Senegal President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, and the two phone calls received by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman from President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President of Brazil Luiz Inácio Lula.
The Cabinet reviewed the outcomes of the Crown Prince's meeting with the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and meeting of the Saudi Greek Strategic Partnership Council, which included reviewing cooperation ties and means to enhance them across various fields and exchanging views on developments of mutual interest and ongoing efforts in this regard.
The Council reiterated the Kingdom's call to the international community to fulfill its responsibility in halting Israel's ongoing violations of international law and norms. The Cabinet stressed the importance of respecting state sovereignty and territorial integrity to prevent further escalation of regional crises and to support efforts toward achieving a just and comprehensive peace.
The Cabinet reviewed the Kingdom's ongoing international development and humanitarian relief efforts, which aim to alleviate the suffering of those in need worldwide, guided by the principles and values of Islam.
The Cabinet decided to create a permanent high-level central committee for security agencies at customs ports, which will supervise the work of security committees at land and sea ports.
The Council approved a model memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in the field of energy between the Saudi government and the governments of other countries and authorizing the minister of energy or his deputy to discuss and sign a draft MoU for energy cooperation with counterparts in other countries based on the approved model.
The Council approved two MoUs in the field of Islamic affairs between the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call, and Guidance and the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs of Chad and the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.
The Cabinet authorized the minister of health or his deputy to discuss and sign a draft MoU for cooperation in health-related fields between the Saudi Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Health of Grenada.
The Council approved a MoU in the fields of preventing and combating corruption between the Saudi Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority and the national anti-corruption committee of Djibouti, and another memorandum of cooperation in the field of intellectual property between the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property and the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office.
The Cabinet approved a cooperation agreement in the field of combating terrorism crimes between the Saudi Presidency of State Security and the Ministry of Public Security of China, and another agreement on the exploration and peaceful use of outer space between the governments of Saudi Arabia and Brazil.
The Council endorsed a MoU in administrative development between the Saudi Institute of Public Administration and Bahrain's Supreme Council for Women.
