RIYADH — The security authorities have arrested 12 drug smugglers and dealers after foiling their attempts to smuggle in huge quantities of drugs. The General Directorate of Narcotics Control arrested two Saudi citizens in Al-Jouf region for promoting drug pills subject to medical circulation regulations, two citizens in the Asir region for promoting amphetamine, and a citizen in the Eastern Province for promoting amphetamine. The land patrols in the Asir region foiled the smuggling of 13 kilograms of hashish in the Dhahran Al-Janoub sector, and the smuggling of 218 kilograms of the narcotic khat plant in the Al-Rabwa sector. The land patrols of the Border Guards arrested seven Ethiopian and Yemeni nationalities in the Al-Aridah sector in the Jazan region for violation of the Border Law through smuggling 126 kilograms of the narcotic khat plant. The security authorities urged the public to report any activities related to drug smuggling or promotion by calling 911 in the regions of Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, and 999 in the rest of the regions.
