DAMMAM — Al Fateh Club has officially announced the signing of Swedish coach Jens Gustafsson to lead the team for the upcoming football season. Gustafsson will make his debut as head coach in Al Fateh's match against Al Qadsiah on Friday marking the start of their campaign in the Saudi Pro League. The new coach has already overseen the final preparations for the team in Al Ahsa ahead of their first league match. At 45 years old, Gustafsson faces significant challenges in his new role, particularly due to the departure of more than five key players, including three foreign professionals: goalkeeper Jacob Rinne, Spanish forward Cristian Tello, and Algerian midfielder Sofiane Bendebka. Additionally, local talents Abbas Al Hassan, who moved to NEOM, goalkeeper Mustafa Malaika, and Salem Al Najdi, who signed with Al Nassr, have also left the club. Furthermore, several players were released after the expiration of their contracts.
