ALKHOBAR — Al-Qadsiah Club announced on Monday the signing of Uruguayan defender Gastón Álvarez from Spain's Getafe, making him the latest addition to the newly promoted team in the Saudi Pro League. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed, but Álvarez's contract with Al-Qadsiah will extend until 2028. Al-Qadsiah announced the signing on its X platform, stating, "We seized the opportunity. Gastón Álvarez joins the Knights." Álvarez, 24, initially joined Getafe on loan from Uruguay's Boston River in 2022, before making his move permanent with the La Liga club in 2023. Since returning to the top flight, Al-Qadsiah, owned by Aramco, has made several high-profile signings, including Real Madrid captain Nacho Fernández, former Barcelona and Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Belgian goalkeeper Koen Casteels. Al-Qadsiah will host Al-Fateh in their Saudi Pro League opener this Friday.
