NAIROBI — Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL) and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars Sheikh Mohammed Al-Issa honored the winners of the Global Elite Competition of the Ten Recitations in Nairobi, capital of Kenya. The ceremony was organized by MWL under the title "Elite Competition for the 10 Qur'an Recitations". Speaking on the occasion, Al-Issa said that MWL is one of the virtuous contributions from Saudi Arabia to the Islamic world, noting that the league is honored to serve the Qur'an and the Sunnah. "In fulfilling this honor, MWL takes on the significant responsibility of education and guidance, which the Qur'an was revealed for, to encourage contemplation and adherence to the Qur'anic teachings," he said. The competition, the first of its kind in the world, has as objective promoting the ten recitations of the Holy Qur'an. Participants competed in two categories: major 10 recitations and minor 10 recitations. Through this competition, MWL achieves several objectives, the most important of which are: introducing the Qur'an recitations, encouraging experts memorizing the Qur'an to study the science of Qur'an recitations, fostering a spirit of fair competition among them, motivating, honoring, and caring for them, promoting their adherence to the morals of the Qur'an and its noble guidance, and preparing a capable and distinguished generation of expert Qur'an memorizers. Qur'an memorization experts accredited in the 10 recitations from around the world and prominent African scholars attended the event.
