JEDDAH — The General Directorate of Civil Defense has issued a warning urging the public to exercise caution and stay in safe places away from areas prone to flash floods, waterlogged areas, and valleys. Swimming in these locations is strongly discouraged due to their unsuitability and potential danger. The Civil Defense advises adherence to instructions announced through various media outlets and social media platforms. This warning comes in anticipation of thunderstorms expected to affect most regions of the Kingdom from Saturday until Thursday. Specifically, the Makkah region is predicted to experience moderate to heavy rainfall that could lead to flash floods, hail, and strong downdraft winds causing dust and sandstorms. Affected areas include the holy city of Makkah, Jumum, Al-Kamil, Taif, Maysan, Adam, Al-Aridyat, Turbah, Ranyah, Al-Muwayh, Al-Khurmah, and others. The Riyadh region, including the capital Riyadh, Diriyah, Afif, Dawadmi, Al-Quway'iyah, Majma'ah, Thadiq, Marat, Al-Ghat, Al-Zulfi, Shaqra, Rumah, Huraymila, Durma, Al-Muzahimiyah, Al-Kharj, Wadi Al-Dawasir, Al-Sulayyil, Al-Aflaj, Hotat Bani Tamim, and Al-Hariq, will also be impacted. Additionally, the warning extends to Najran, Jazan, Madinah, Hail, Northern Borders, Eastern Province, Tabuk, Al-Jouf, Asir, Al-Baha, and Al-Qassim regions. Residents in these areas are advised to stay vigilant and follow safety guidelines provided by the Civil Defense during the forecasted period of adverse weather conditions.
