RIYADH — The Ministry of Culture announced on Thursday the restructuring of the boards of directors of 10 cultural bodies under the ministry. All the boards are headed by Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah while Deputy Minister of Culture Hamid Fayez is the deputy chairman of the boards of directors. The newly constituted boards included the following commissions: Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission, Fashion Commission, Film Commission, Heritage Commission, Architecture and Design Arts Commission, Visual Arts Commission, Museums Commission, Theater and Performing Arts Commission, Libraries Commission, and Culinary Arts Commission. Members of the boards of directors of the commissions are the following: Fashion Commission: Princess Reema bint Bandar, Dr. Thomas Tochtermann, Khalid Al-Tayer, Rafi Zakran, and Edward Sabbagh. Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission: Dr. Hossam Zaman, Dr. Connie Mitchell, Dr. Saad Al-Bazai, Dr. Khalid Al-Rifai, and Dr. Aziza bint Abdulaziz Al-Manea. Museums Commission: Dr. Markus Hilgert, Raneem bint Zaki Farsi, Sarah bint Abdullah Ali Reda, Al-Shaima bint Rahhab Hamid Al-Din, and Jennifer Stockman. Heritage Commission: Princess Najla bint Ahmed, Dr. Fahd Al-Sammari, Dr. Laila bint Saleh Al-Bassam, Dr. Saeed Al-Saeed, and Dr. Francesco Bandarin. Film Commission: Haifa bint Abdul Rahman Al-Mansour, Mohammed Al-Kheraiji, Amanda Nevill, Thomas McGrath, and Gerald Raines. Libraries Commission: King Fahd National Library Secretary Faisal Al-Muammar, Dr. Faisal Al-Tamimi, and Dr. John Van Oudenaren. Architecture Arts and Design Commission: Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf, Dr. Khalid Azzam, Dr. Saleh Al-Hathloul, Jawaher bint Ziyad Al-Sudairi, and Christopher Chua. Theater and Performing Arts Commission: Dr. Rashid Al-Shamrani, Dr. Sami Al-Jamaan, Dr. Sameh Hassan, Neve Dowling, and Simon Fuller. Visual Arts Commission: Dr. Effat bint Abdullah Fadaq, Faisal Tamer, Fadi Jameel, Nada Mohsen Shabout and Sheena Wagstaff. Culinary Arts Commission: Dr. Diane Dodd, Hani Al-Attas, Bodour bint Nasser Al-Rashudi, Eric Wolf and Louise Serra. It is noteworthy that the membership of the boards of directors is for a period of three years, with each board shall hold its meetings four times a year or whenever necessary. The process of restructuring the boards of directors comes to keep pace with the growing work of cultural bodies and their efforts to develop their sub-sectors. The boards, with their new members, will assume responsibilities related to following up the bodies' activities, supervising the implementation of their strategies, and approving policies related to their projects and initiatives, regulations, systems, and internal and technical procedures.
