NEOM — NEOM has taken a significant step in the sports industry with the introduction of the NEOM Sports Club, following the announcement in June about the transfer of Al Suqor Club's ownership to NEOM. The company disclosed on Sunday that the club will be rebranded as NEOM Sports Club; complete with a new logo that reflects this change. In a strategic move, NEOM has appointed Moaath Alohali as the CEO of the club. Alohali brings valuable experience from his previous role as the CEO of the Saudi Pro League team Al Ettifaq. This ownership transfer aligns with the Kingdom's recent privatization initiatives for sports clubs, spearheaded by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Salman. These plans are designed to foster the growth of the sports industry and stimulate private sector investment, contributing to the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. NEOM Sports Club is poised to play a key role in achieving NEOM's ambitious sports goals, reinforcing the project's dedication to nurturing local Saudi talent and positioning itself as a global sports hub. Meshari Al-Motairi, chairman of NEOM Sports Club, emphasized the club's commitment to the development of sports in the Kingdom and its alignment with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. He highlighted that sport is a central component of NEOM's innovative approach to livability, leveraging it as a means for social development, community unity, and economic dynamism. The unveiling of the club's new name and logo is a significant milestone in NEOM's journey towards realizing its sports objectives, including promoting active lifestyles and supporting sporting entities. Al-Motairi expressed enthusiasm about honoring the club's history and its connection to the local community, as well as attracting top talent and coaches to cultivate high-performance athletes within a comprehensive, future-focused ecosystem. Alohali, CEO of NEOM Sports Club, remarked on the significance of this moment for the club, expressing pride in being part of this new chapter. He stressed the club's longstanding commitment to sports and the expanded opportunities now available through NEOM to enhance their offerings and serve the community with diverse sports options for all ages. NEOM Sports Club has already achieved considerable success in various sports. In football, the club is leading its group in the Second League Division. The club's youth football team is striving for a spot in the Saudi Pro League, and its newly formed women's team is aiming for promotion to the Women's Premier League. Recently, NEOM Sports Club has established basketball teams, including a women's team, and launched a handball academy. The club's accolades include winning four medals across six different competitions at the Saudi Games.
