Samar Yahya Saudi Gazette JEDDAH – The Arab Consuls General Group recently held a ceremony to honor renowned businessman Sheikh Saleh Kamel, president of the Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Dallah Al-Barakah Group, for his efforts in the field of trade and business in the Kingdom as well as Arab and Muslim regions. The ceremony, which was held at the Hilton's Waves restaurant on Monday evening, began with the recitation of verses from Qur'an, followed by speeches from Algerian Consul General and Dean of Arab Consuls General Group, Saleh Atiyah, Ambassador Mohammad Ahmad Tayeb, Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Makkah, and Sheikh Saleh Kamel. “Here we are as Arab consuls general celebrating and honoring Sheikh Saleh Kamel, the guest of honor. He is a unique personality in the field of business and finance. He is a businessman, economic thinker, chairman of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, president of the Islamic Council of Chambers and the Gulf of Commerce and Industry. He is the founder and president of Dallah Al-Barakah Group and president of the World Association of Islamic Banks. Sheikh Kamel excelled and succeeded and is known for his resounding success,” Atyiah was quoted as saying. Atiyah also praised Ambassador Tayyeb for his efforts to bridge communications and strengthen bonds between diplomatic corps and Saudi society. During his speech, Ambassador Tayeb spoke about his long relationship with Sheikh Kamel and how he convinced him to join the presidency of JCCI. Sheikh Kamel expressed his appreciation at being honored and thanked guests for their participation in the ceremony. His speech focused on Islamic banking and his businesses in Arab and Islamic countries. “Arab consuls general have always been partners in the success of any venture as they maintain relations with each other and among Arab countries,” Kamel concluded. Sheikh Kamel, who is a self-made businessman, has a business degree from King Saudi University in Riyadh. He currently chairs the Board of Directors of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and the Committee of Participants in the portfolio of Islamic banks, and the General Council of the banks and Islamic financial institutions. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the King Abdul Aziz Foundation for the Gifted, the Arab Thought Foundation and the Arab Media Corporation. The ceremony was the first of a series of events to honor prominent Arab figures by the Arab Consuls General Group.
